Im stealing my friend Stephanie's idea and making a new post on each letter of the alphabet.
A is for Apple of my eye.
Wikipedia defines this phrase as "Something, but usually someone, that one cherishes above all others" (ref).
Meet the apple of my eye.Christian Wyatt Rucklos. This type of love is a love I have never felt before. Filled with admiration, proudness, fear, uncertainty, hope and protection. I was charged with the responsibility of caring for this tiny human. He depends on me for everything. He looks up at me when we are snuggling, feels safe and closes his eyes again....total trust. It makes my heart hurt to think of him ever hurting, when he is in pain, I am in pain. It is overwhelming to think I am forever bound to this tiny life, that something is everlasting. Regardless of what the future holds he has a part of my heart for the rest of my life.
I have loved in my life. I have felt many different versions of love and they all scared me and felt fleeting. But the love I feel for my son feels like its a feeling that has been there forever, it feels familiar, like it belongs. I am discovering more and more about who he is and his little personality. But that base is there, I cherish him, he is the Apple of my eye.

Pictures and our grand adventure
So after hemming and hawing over if I could afford it or not I finally broke down and made an apt to get newborn pics of Christian done (yes, he was a month and a half already but thats close enough). I also decided that I wanted my other "son" in them with him. My border collie/heeler mix, Wyatt, has been my son for the last 9 years and I didnt have any neat pics of him, and since C shares a middle name with him it had to be done.
So tuesday morning at 7am we wake up and get dressed. I pack a bag for C and a bottle with only about 2oz in it to force myself to breastfeed should he get hungry. I need to get comfortable doing this in public.
So at about 8 I get wyatt, Christian, my purse, a diaper bag and the stroller into the car. Quick pit stop at a friends to pick up some plain onsies (how could i lack these?) and we are on our way.
By the time I get into reno I realize I hadnt eaten anything and neither had wyatt. So I stopped at mcdonalds and grabbed some breakfast then back on the road we went. About half way there C started crying inconsolably so I had to do the binky plug and drive trick (which is only possible with long legs and arms!).
Finally we made it to their street and I ended up having to double back 2-3 times...neighbors ere looking at me weird)..but i couldnt find the address they had given me! I finally broke down and called my friend Steph who had had her pics done there before and she described what the house looked like. I saw it up the road and finally parked (they had given me 343 instead of 434).
I let wyatt out and he trotted up to the front door as i unpacked c. Besides being swelteringly hot in there (because C was in a diaper for most the shoots)..it went smashingly well. Wyatt cooperated like a champ...C cried a lot...and I ended up using my coveted 2oz to calm him down. I took pics of Danny, the photog, taking pics of C.
Wyatt did great, he was a bit nervous but he laid there like a good boy. Christian started flipping out near the end so we wrapped it up. Because Wyatt was such a good boy I took him to the dog park nearbye.
By the end of the day we were exhausted but it was totally worth it. I will get my pics in a couple weeks but they gave me these sneak peeks:
